On 11 June 2024, AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd., held a conference on the topic of Decentralized Energy Solutions in Dar es Salaam. The conference was part of an Energy Trade Mission to Tanzania which took place from 11 to 14 June 2024 within the framework of the German Energy Solutions Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The focus of the energy trade mission, which was organized in collaboration with Renewables Academy (RENAC), is the interaction between German solution providers and the vibrant Tanzanian private sector. Key stakeholders from the energy sector, along with industrial and commercial companies, gathered to explore the potential of mini-grids, captive energy and biogas digesters in Tanzania. With over 130 attendees, the conference provided a platform for dialogue on the latest technological advancements and business prospects.
During the conference, representatives from seven German companies showcased their innovative products and solutions: Johannes Germ from Asantys Systems GmbH, Samuel Kinyanjui from Boreal Light/WaterKiosk Africa, Lukas Glume from Glume Elektro Jungs, Marcus M. Görtz from nOa climate, Tim Malzfeld from SMA Altenso GmbH, Brian M. Omega from Soventix GmbH and Dr. Olaf Fleck from Sunset Energietechnik GmbH. We were honoured to have distinguished keynote speakers such as Hon. Dr. Doto Mashaka Biteko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Thomas Terstegen, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Tanzania and John Mnali, Director - Investment Promotion at the Tanzania Investment Centre, at the conference. Further experts contributing were Emma Laswai, Deputy Executive Secretary at the Tanzania Renewable Energy Association, Dr. Sofia Karimi from our project partner Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG and Dr. Matthias Stark, Head of Renewable Energy Systems at the German Renewable Energy Federation (Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie e.V. (BEE). Hanna Dittmeyer, Head of the Competence Center for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Economy at AHK Eastern Africa, moderated the conference. Following the conference, three days of B2B meetings and a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence provided ample opportunities for direct business discussions and networking.
