AHK Eastern Africa - Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa was pleased to organize a successful Bosch Green Hydrogen cocktail, bringing together industry leaders, technology providers, and financing partners to explore the future of sustainable industrial energy.
We were honoured to open the event with remarks from:
✅Dr. Markus Thill, President Region Africa, Robert Bosch
✅Alexander Fierley, Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya
✅Dagmar von Bohnstein, Delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa
Hydrogen is still a relatively new technology in the Eastern Africa market, but discussions clearly demonstrated its strong potential — for mobility and stationary applications, particularly for industrial heat and steam production, where decarbonisation is most critical.
Bosch showcased its capability to support the entire hydrogen value chain:
🔹 Production (water purification and electrolysis)
🔹 Storage and infrastructure
🔹 Mobility (fuel cell, hydrogen internal combustion engines) as well as industrial applications (hydrogen-ready boilers and process heat, hydrogen gensets)
🔹 Innovative models such as Heating-or Steam-as-a-Service, reducing upfront investment barriers
A key highlight was the focus on industrial sectors that need heat or steam as a primary offtaker, such as food processing, dairy, and manufacturing.
The event sparked valuable discussions and strong engagement, with spontaneous B2B meetings to take place in the coming days being arranged during the networking cocktail — a clear indication of growing market interest and readiness.
👏 We thank Bosch and all participants for their active contributions.
We look forward to organizing more such initiatives that connect global innovation with local industry needs and accelerate sustainable solutions in Kenya and the region.
