A significant milestone for Tanzania's growing energy efficiency and sustainable energy sector. The establishment of the AEE Tanzania Chapter marks an important step in strengthening the country's professional energy ecosystem. Building on the successful implementation of the Tanzania's Energy Efficiency Action Plan (EEAP), led by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM), Tanzania. The launch of AEE in Tanzania brought together representatives from government, industry, financial institutions, academia, development partners and the private sector to discuss the future of energy efficiency in Tanzania. The event highlighted the importance of translating technical knowledge into practical implementation through energy audits, innovative technologies and stronger collaboration across sectors. It also emphasized supporting young professionals, researchers and innovators who will help drive Tanzania's sustainable energy transition.
As AHK Eastern Africa - Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa prepares for an upcoming Energy Trade Mission on “𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞” in Tanzania and Uganda, it was valuable to witness this important development and engage with key stakeholders shaping the region's energy future.
A key takeaway from the panel discussion was the need to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical industry skills in Tanzania's energy sector. Panelists highlighted the importance of competence-based education, mentorship, stronger soft skills and increased investment in research and innovation to prepare the next generation of energy professionals. These priorities closely align with AHK Services Eastern Africa's African Skills for Germany (AS4G) programme, which supports young Tanzanian engineers in developing industry-relevant skills and connecting with international training and career opportunities, benefiting both Tanzania's energy sector and German industry.
