Kenya and Ethiopia are strengthening their transmission and distribution networks, integrating more renewable energy and expanding storage and charging infrastructure. At regional level, the Eastern Africa Power Pool plans to introduce a day-ahead market in 2026, increasing the importance of crossborder system integration. Some of Africa’s first privately financed transmission projects are being prepared in both countries, underlining the growing role of private investment in grid development.
