One major announcement was the signature of an agreement aimed at expanding green finance between the Bank of Uganda and the European Investment Bank (EIB), encouraging investment in renewable energies.
While the European private sector was majorly represented by the respective chambers - AHK for Eastern Africa, French, Dutch, Danish and Italian bilateral chambers - the German side was additionally represented by the German embassy, GIZ, KfW.
The Ugandan government was represented by the vice-president of Uganda, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development as well as the State Minister of Trade.
Yet, the essential part for the business community were the dedicated deal rooms for previously arranged B2B and B2G discussions with the Ugandan public and private sector. Moreover, the exhibition provided the opportunity to engage in conversations with relevant Ugandan government authorities addressing company specific issues and first consultations.
Particularly for German companies with engineering and consulting solutions in water, geothermal or solar energy, the forum paved the way for initial exchange as well as commitments for future cooperations and projects. Equally important were the financing solutions presented by KfW.
