On 18th February 2026 our General Manager, Christian Engels, LL.M., and George Warutere, Head of Market Entry and Business Development, welcomed Stephen Carleton and Mercy Karani from Gisma University of Applied Sciences to the offices of the AHK Eastern Africa - Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa.
As a German university of applied sciences with strong links to industry and innovation ecosystems in Germany, Gisma represents an important bridge between German higher education excellence and emerging talent in Eastern Africa.
Our discussion focused on strengthening German–East African collaboration in education, particularly through the Gisma Women in Tech Scholarship — an initiative aimed at empowering women to pursue careers in technology through access to high-quality German education, industry exposure, and mentorship.
The scholarship supports female talent in building future-oriented digital skills and contributing to innovation across industries, a key pillar for sustainable economic development and closer cooperation between Germany and Eastern Africa.
