Minister of State Manfred Pentz led a delegation of more than 30 companies from the State of Hessen on a week-long mission to Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya from 13 to 19 September 2026.

Across the three countries, the delegation experienced first-hand the diversity of East Africaโs economies and the business opportunities they offer. High-level political engagements helped open doors and create important entry points for the participating companies.

Behind such a programme is a considerable amount of work. Three countries meant different business environments, numerous stakeholders and company interests, and, inevitably, changing schedules, shifting meetings and new opportunities emerging at short notice.

This is where the AHK network and our strong presence on the ground came into play.
AHK Eastern Africa was part of the core team before and throughout the mission, coordinating stakeholders, connecting companies with the right local partners and finding practical solutions whenever plans changed.

The mission was a genuine team effort, made possible through close cooperation between AHK, the German Embassies in the three countries, GIZ and the Hessen State Chancellery.

And for AHK Eastern Africa, the mission does not end with the departure of the delegation.

We now look forward to following up on the opportunities created, strengthening the connections made and supporting the participating companies in their business development in Eastern Africa.
