From 20 to 22 February 2026, AHK Eastern Africa - Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, in collaboration with Kenyaโ€™s Ministry of Education, State Department for TVET, participated in the Nairobi International Education Fair & WorkSkills Conference to promote Dual TVET as an industry-driven pathway linking skills development, apprenticeships, and sustainable employment.

AHK Eastern Africa - Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, in collaboration with the ๐Œ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐„๐๐ฎ๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐“๐•๐„๐“, as part of the Communication and Marketing Project funded by KfW, participated in the recently concluded ๐๐š๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐›๐ข ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐„๐๐ฎ๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐…๐š๐ข๐ซ & ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐’๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž. The event was hosted by Express Communications Ltd. in partnership with Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) and took place from ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ญ๐ก ๐ญ๐จ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ง๐ ๐…๐ž๐›๐ซ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ at the Sarit Expo Centre, Nairobi.

The conference focused on strengthening the link between skills development, employer engagement, and sustainable pathways into work, particularly for young people transitioning from training into employment.
During the three-day event, the team actively promoted Dual TVET as a competence-based training model that integrates classroom learning with structured in-company training. Through engagements at the booth, the team created awareness among trainees, employers, policymakers, and training institutions on the value of industry-driven skills development.

In addition, AHKโ€™s ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐“๐•๐„๐“ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‹๐š๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐Œ๐จ๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ž, Mr. Bruno Backes, moderated the high-level panel discussion titled โ€œ๐„๐ฑ๐ฉ๐š๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐๐š๐ญ๐ก๐ฐ๐š๐ฒ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ค: ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ๐ฌ, ๐€๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ๐ฌ & ๐’๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐‘๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง.โ€ The panel brought together experts from the NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL TRAINING AUTHORITY (NITA) and GIZ Kenya (DualTrainingProgramme). The discussion emphasized practical collaboration between industry and training institutions, recognition of prior learning, and the expansion of structured apprenticeship systems.
