On 1 October 2026, AHK Eastern Africa - Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, through the hashtag#AfricanSkills4Germany (AS4G) project, brought together government representatives, training institutions, employers, students, skilled professionals and German language learners at Madinat Al Bahr for the Skills and Labour Mobility Information Event. AHK Eastern Africa was represented by Tanzania Country Representative Dorcas Parsalaw and AS4G Project Manager Pendo Ringo.
Mr. Khamis Abdulla Said, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, delivered the keynote speech. The exchange reflected the government’s commitment to equipping Zanzibar’s young people with skills and preparation to pursue employment opportunities, including internationally.
Other speakers and contributors included Mr. Khalid Masoud Waziri, Deputy Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Employment and Empowerment; Dr. Mzee Mzee, Deputy Principal of Karume Institute of Science and Technology; Mr. Salim Suleiman, Managing Director of Zenith Travel and Tours and Zenith Learning Centre; Mr. Hamad Hamad, Executive Director of the Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC); Ms. Mwajuma Amir, representing the Vocational Training Authority (VTA); and Mr. Abdulwahab Bakari Ali, representing the Ministry of Labour and Investment.
The message was clear: 𝐙𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. Discussions focused on German language learning, vocational skills, candidate readiness and fair recruitment, highlighting the shared responsibility of government, training institutions and employers.
