Competence Centre for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Economy

We focus on Bioenergy, Energy Efficiency, E-Mobility, Solar Energy, Water Supply, Waste Water Treatment, Supply Chain Due Diligence and Waste Management. The Competence Centre for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Economy also provides a joint function for East African enterprises and institutions to connect to Germany to assess knowledge and technology in the respective sectors.

Special emphasis is put on
  • Market Intelligence including research and publication of detailed studies, subsector analysis for corporates as well as the public sector and international organizations;
  • The provision of Business Delegation Trips and individual Fact-Finding Missions both to and from Germany;
  • Overview of relevant stakeholders in the private, public, and institutional sphere including the identification and the assessment of potential clients and business partners;
  • Constant liaising with relevant public and private institutions in the aforementioned sectors for keeping track of relevant developments and initiatives;
  • Measures to sensitize the target markets and the provision of platforms including match-making, workshops, trainings and publications;
  • Support in acquiring linkages to tools aimed at leveraging private sector engagement provided by development cooperation.

Business Scouts for Development work as development policy experts in around 40 countries across the globe. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ), they advise German, European and local companies on development policy matters and promote responsible business engagement through cooperation projects. The Business Scouts for Development work closely with partners from business associations and institutions and from TVET organisations both in Germany and in each country.
