AHK Eastern Africa - Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, Tanzania Branch participated in the workshop “𝑅𝑒𝑔𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝐴𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑃𝑎𝑛-𝐴𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝐴𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒,” held at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) on 8–9 𝐽𝑢𝑙𝑦 2026.
Pendo Ringo, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝟒 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 (𝐀𝐒𝟒𝐆) 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, participated as a panellist in the session “𝑇𝑤𝑜-𝑊𝑎𝑦 𝑂𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠: 𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐼𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝐸𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝐴𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑎 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐸𝑢𝑟𝑜𝑝𝑒?” The discussion explored how East Africa and Europe can strengthen cooperation in digitalisation, artificial intelligence, skills development, and access to learning and employment opportunities.
From an AS4G perspective, the exchange highlighted the importance of partnerships that connect skills development with actual labour-market needs. Digitalisation and AI can improve access to training, support candidate matching, and strengthen cross-border cooperation, provided that this is accompanied by inclusive access, practical skills development, and clear pathways into employment.
The workshop also featured a dedicated session on labour mobility and skills recognition in the East African Community, reinforcing the importance of qualification recognition, regional coordination, and transparent mobility frameworks. These issues closely relate to AS4G’s work in preparing skilled candidates and promoting structured, fair, and sustainable labour mobility between East Africa and Germany.
AHK Eastern Africa appreciates the Tanzanian-German Centre for Eastern African Legal Studies (TGCL), together with the University of Bayreuth, the University of Dar es Salaam Research Group on Law, Society and Technology, and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, for convening this timely and important dialogue.
