AHK Eastern Africa Tanzania, through the African Skills 4 Germany (AS4G) project, hosted a Skills and Labour Mobility Workshop in Dar es Salaam, equipping candidates with practical insights on language readiness, workplace culture, and ethical pathways to international career opportunities in Germany.

AS4G Skills and Labour Mobility Workshop: Preparing Candidates for Opportunities in Germany

On Friday, AHK Eastern Africa through the African Skills 4 Germany (AS4G) project hosted the Skills and Labour Mobility Workshop in Dar es Salaam.

The workshop brought together candidates, partners, and sector experts for practical discussions on how to better prepare for international opportunities, especially in Germany. The sessions focused on German language readiness, safe and ethical labour mobility, workplace culture, cultural readiness, professional communication, personal branding, and practical steps candidates need to take before pursuing training or employment opportunities abroad.

 

We were honoured to have valuable contributions from our speakers and partners:
Diana Rutechura, National Project Coordinator, Better Regional Migration Management Programme,ILO - Labour Migration East and Horn of Africa, who shared key insights on safe, fair, and ethical labour mobility.
Nassoro Nascov,Deputy Director and Head of Language Department, Goethe-Institut Tanzania, who highlighted the importance of German language as a key to training and employment opportunities in Germany.

Dorcas Parsalaw, Country Representative, AHK Services Eastern Africa, and, Lydia Koch, Advisor, Giz Digital Transformation Centre, who shared practical insights on workplace culture, daily life in Germany, and managing expectations beyond the job offer. A key highlight of the day was the panel discussion: “𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 – 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩.”

 

Special appreciation to our panelists, including Hannah Mwandoloma, Communications Expert and Consultant who shared insights on professional communication, digital etiquette and personal branding; Ali Farooq from MeTL Group, who provided an employer’s perspective on technical skills and workplace readiness; and Noel Aloyce Chuwa, CFA from Equity Bank (Tanzania) Limited, who contributed valuable insights on financial readiness and responsible preparation for international opportunities.

 

We are grateful to all speakers, partners, panelists, facilitators, and participants who contributed to the success of the workshop. The strong engagement from candidates reflects the growing interest in structured, ethical, and well-prepared labour mobility pathways.
