Dual TVET Week-Western Region

AHK Eastern Africa, together with the Ministry of Education, GIZ Kenya, and KfW Development Bank, conducted a successful Dual TVET image campaign in the Western Region, culminating at RIAT and attracting over 700 guests while showcasing industry-aligned training excellence and amplifying the importance of skills development through extensive media coverage.

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, AHK Eastern Africa - Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, in collaboration with the Ministry Of Education, Kenya (MOE), GIZ Kenya and, KfW Development Bank, successfully conducted a DualTVET image campaign for the Western Region, culminating in the main event hosted at RAMOGI INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY.

 

The event was graced by three TVET County Directors and brought together over 250 participants from TVET institutions across the Western region and their partner companies. Together, they showcased training excellence across key sectors including Automotive and Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Building and Construction, ICT, Hospitality, Fashion and Creative Industries, and the Blue Economy.

 

In addition, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟕𝟎𝟎 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟔𝟎𝟎 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. This engagement is particularly important under the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐦 (𝐂𝐁𝐂), as it helps learners gain early exposure to career opportunities and make informed decisions about their future career pathways.

 

As part of the dual TVET image campaign, Dr. Elisha Nyamu (Principal Shamberere National Polytechnic) and our colleague Esther Ndichu had the opportunity to participate in a radio interview on Radio Citizen, where we discussed the Dual TVET model and promoted the week’s activities leading up to the main exhibition at RIAT.

 

The event also received media coverage from 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨 𝟒𝟕, helping to further amplify the importance of industry-led skills development
