The Bavarian ICT Delegation, led by Markus Dr. Wittmann, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥, 𝐁𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬, 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲, toured Tatu City, a visionary 5,000-acre special Economic Zone on Nairobi’s outskirts.
Participants enjoyed a networking lunch at Tamambo, Tatu City, which created space for informal exchanges. Welcome remarks were delivered by Tatu City leadership, George Kapanadze, 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫, and David Karimi, 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫, alongside Markus Dr. Wittmann, who emphasized the significance of SEZs for international investors.
The program also included a live demo from E&M Technology House Ltd, where the delegation witnessed practical applications of ICT within Tatu City. This was followed by presentations on the Bavarian delegation’s mission and activities, insights into operating within a Special Economic Zone, and an introduction to Tatu City’s new Digital District as a hub for tech firms. An interactive Q&A on business operations in Kenya further enriched the discussions before closing remarks were delivered by the 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, Dr. Monika Erath and Tatu City representatives. The visit concluded with a short tour of the industrial park.
