Ethiopia

Ethiopia, officially known as the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, is a landlocked country located in the Horn of Africa, covering an area of 1.14 million square kilometers. With its rich history, Ethiopia was the only African nation to avoid colonization and, under Emperor Haile Selassie, became a founding member of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now known as the African Union (AU). Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital, serves as a key diplomatic hub, hosting the headquarters of the African Union and the third-largest United Nations duty station globally.

As one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, Ethiopia is making significant strides in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure. The country is also known for its diverse cultural heritage, ancient historical sites such as Lalibela, and a unique calendar and timekeeping system. Additionally, Ethiopia’s Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Africa, aiming to transform the country’s energy sector.
