The course offered practical tools and expert-led training on implementing the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Participants from various sectors, including agribusiness, manufacturing, and trade associations, completed a modular training and are now certified as Supply Chain Due Diligence Managers. The training was delivered in collaboration with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and emphasized real-world application, including Training of Trainers (ToT) components. Due to high interest, further editions are planned—please contact us for upcoming dates and registration details.

Germany maintains strong trade relations with several Eastern African countries, particularly Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda. Key German exports to the region include machinery, chemicals, and vehicles, while imports to Germany are primarily agricultural goods such as coffee, tea, spices, and other produce.
Kenya has taken a leading role in promoting ethical business practices, notably through the publication of its National Action Plan (NAP) on Business and Human Rights in July 2023. This positioned the country as a regional model. The African Business and Human Rights Forum held in Addis Ababa further underscored the growing importance of Business and Human Rights Due Diligence (BHR/HRDD) in Africa.
In this context, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) and AHK Eastern Africa—both part of the global network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad—have partnered to offer trainings, expertise, and practical tools for Eastern African companies aiming to implement supply chain compliance measures. This initiative is aligned with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). The AHK team is now certified as Supply Chain Due Diligence Managers and qualified to conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions for company representatives, associations, cooperatives, and other interested institutions.
This collaboration provides East African companies, or those with regional supply chain ties, with targeted support to meet the compliance standards required under the German legislation. The joint effort reflects a shared commitment to fostering responsible and sustainable trade across Eastern Africa.
AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd. is currently in the process of establishing regular training offers for interested and affected businesses.
